HUCUS Foundation Launches Global Initiative to Advance Ukrainian Literature and Scholarship

The HUCUS Foundation is proud to announce a new initiative dedicated to expanding the global reach of Ukrainian literature, scholarship, and academically verified knowledge about Ukraine.

As part of its commitment to cultural diplomacy, education, and international awareness, HUCUS Foundation is developing editorial, translation, and publication support programs designed to help bring Ukrainian voices, research, and literary works to English-speaking audiences worldwide.

Supporting Ukrainian Voices Through Publishing

The war in Ukraine has reinforced the urgent need for accurate, credible, and accessible information about the country’s history, culture, identity, and contemporary realities. Literature and scholarship remain among the most powerful tools for preserving truth, strengthening cultural resilience, and fostering international understanding.

Through this initiative, HUCUS Foundation will support publication efforts focused on Ukrainian literary works, non-fiction, and scholarly research through professional services such as:

• Editorial development and manuscript preparation;
• Copyediting and line editing;
• Translation review and linguistic refinement for Ukrainian-to-English literary and non-fiction works;
• Publication support in collaboration with academic institutions and independent publishers;
• Strategic partnership development to expand global access to Ukrainian intellectual and cultural contributions.

By working closely with translators, editors, publishers, and academic institutions, the Foundation seeks to ensure that Ukrainian stories and scholarship are presented to international readers with the highest professional standards.

Strategic Partnership with Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute

As part of this effort, HUCUS Foundation is honored to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (HURI), the premier and sole academic institution dedicated entirely to Ukrainian studies across the United States.

Founded more than fifty years ago through the vision and dedication of the Ukrainian-American community, HURI has become a globally recognized academic institution dedicated to advancing scholarship on Ukraine. The Institute provides educational resources, academic programming, and publications covering Ukrainian history, literature, arts, politics, and contemporary affairs.

One of HURI’s most impactful initiatives is its publishing program, which produces scholarly works about Ukraine and, increasingly, English translations of Ukrainian literature—making Ukraine’s intellectual and cultural contributions accessible to broader international audiences.

Building a Coalition for Truth and Cultural Preservation

HUCUS Foundation is proud to join the coalition supporting this important mission.

At a time when disinformation, historical distortion, and attacks on cultural identity remain pressing global challenges, ensuring access to academically verified and professionally presented information about Ukraine is more important than ever.

The truth of the Ukrainian experience must not only be preserved—it must be shared.

We believe cultural diplomacy and scholarship are essential components of humanitarian resilience and global advocacy. Supporting literature, research, and education is an investment in truth, democratic values, and international understanding.

Current Collaborative Projects

Together with HURI and its publishing leadership under Dr. Kotsyuba, HUCUS Foundation has already begun collaborative work on several important initiatives, including support for the English-language publication of Felix Austria by acclaimed Ukrainian author Sofia Andrukhovych.

In addition, HUCUS Foundation is supporting the launch of the Ukrainian Book Challenge, a campaign designed to engage individuals, businesses, families, institutions, and communities in expanding access to Ukrainian literature worldwide.

This initiative invites supporters from across sectors to participate in strengthening Ukraine’s cultural voice and ensuring its stories reach global audiences.

Join the Mission

HUCUS Foundation welcomes organizations, philanthropic partners, businesses, educational institutions, and community leaders interested in supporting this important effort.

The Ukrainian-American community built institutions like HURI decades ago to preserve and promote Ukrainian scholarship. Today, that legacy requires renewed support and expanded collaboration.

Together, we can ensure that Ukraine’s history, scholarship, and literature continue to inform, inspire, and reach the world.
